New Braunfels is not simply the city attached to Gruene. It sits at the Comal and Guadalupe, carries one of Texas’s strongest German-American cultural legacies, and contains Black and Mexican-American histories that deserve to be visible in the same frame.

Pair water with history: the Comal or Landa Park in the morning, a museum or heritage stop when the heat rises, and music or food later. Use the culture collection before you go; it changes what you notice.
